Let’s get the first aspect clear, the lawsuit isn’t against Morgan State, it’s against the fraternity Kappa Alpha Psi’s chapter OF Morgan State. Student and former Obama Administration intern Brian Stewart says he is suing the fraternity for allegedly discriminating because he is an openly gay man.
“I didn’t know I was going to have no control — that my interview meant nothing, my achievements meant nothing, because they had already made up their minds,” Stewart said. -via Bossip
Stewart, a 20-year-old senior, has been wanting to be apart of Kappa Alpha Psi for years, and when the time finally came to start the process to become a member, that’s what he did. Just a day after his interview, on October 3, he received his letter of denial as well as some harsh and derogatory statements. It was even said that one of the members of the fraternity hinted that he may not be chosen because of his sexual preference.
The university has spoken out and said they are aware of the issue and will look into it. FOX45 of Baltimore try to get in contact with reps of the fraternity but have yet to hear anything from Kappa Alpha Psi.
